PM Modi inaugurates RBI’s Rs 169-crore data centre, cybersecurity institute in Odisha
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Rs 169-crore data centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute at Info Valley-II in Jatni, near Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Spread across 18.55 acres, the facility’s foundation stone was laid by then RBI governor Shaktikanta Das on March 22, 2023. The data centre will host mission-critical payment and settlement systems, along with other key RBI initiatives, according to a government statement.
It is expected to improve the reach, efficiency and reliability of digital financial services while providing a secure foundation for India’s increasingly technology-driven financial sector. The Cybersecurity Training Institute will focus on training, research and capacity building in cybersecurity and enterprise technology.
The location was chosen for its geographical stability, away from seismically active zones and high-risk international border areas. Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, Odisha Governor Brajmohan Ram, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other senior leaders were also present at the inauguration.
